Notice according to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act
Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment
The symbol of the "crossed-out wheeled bin" means that you are legally obligated to dispose of these devices separately from unsorted municipal waste. Disposal via household waste, such as the residual waste bin or the yellow recycling bin, is prohibited. Avoid incorrect disposal by disposing of them correctly at designated collection and return points. Waste prevention measures generally take precedence over waste management measures. For electrical and electronic equipment, waste prevention measures include, in particular, extending its lifespan by repairing defective devices and selling functional used devices instead of disposing of them.
Options for returning old devices
Owners of old devices can return them free of charge through the return or collection options established and made available by public waste management authorities. Returns are also possible under certain conditions at distributors.
The distributor must accept used electrical and electronic equipment free of charge when a new device of the same type is purchased (1:1 exchange). Additionally, it is possible to return used electrical and electronic equipment free of charge if its external dimensions do not exceed 25 centimeters and the return is limited to three devices per device type (0:1 exchange).
Retail:
Distributors with a sales area of at least 400 square meters dedicated to electrical and electronic equipment are obligated to accept used electrical and electronic equipment. Food retailers with a total sales area of at least 800 square meters who offer and make available electrical and electronic equipment on the market several times a year or on a permanent basis are also obligated to accept used equipment.
Distance selling:
Distributors who sell their products using means of distance communication are obligated to accept used electrical and electronic equipment if their storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment are at least 400 square meters.
Removal of Batteries and Bulbs
If the products contain batteries, rechargeable batteries, or bulbs that can be removed from the old device without damage, these must be removed before disposal and disposed of separately as batteries or bulbs.
Data Protection
We would like to inform all end users of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that they are responsible for deleting any personal data on the devices to be disposed of.
Notice according to the Battery Act
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on batteries or rechargeable batteries indicates that they must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of their service life. If batteries or rechargeable batteries contain mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), or lead (Pb), you will find the respective chemical symbol below the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol:
Pb: Battery contains more than 0.004% lead by mass
Cd: Battery contains more than 0.002% cadmium by mass
Hg: Battery contains more than 0.0005% mercury by mass
You are legally obligated to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. You can do this free of charge at retail outlets or at other collection points near you. Disposal at retail outlets is limited to quantities typical for end users. You can obtain addresses of suitable collection points from your city or municipal administration.
Batteries can contain hazardous substances that, if not stored or disposed of properly, can harm the environment and your health. The separate collection and recycling of old batteries and accumulators helps to prevent these negative impacts on the environment and human health and to return valuable raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese, and nickel to the recycling loop. Special care is required when handling lithium-containing batteries due to the particular risks involved.
Please avoid generating waste from old batteries as much as possible, for example, by choosing batteries with a longer lifespan or rechargeable batteries. Please prevent littering in public spaces by not carelessly discarding batteries or battery-containing electrical and electronic devices. Please consider options for reusing a battery instead of disposing of it, such as reconditioning or repairing it.
